USDZ is Apple's native AR distribution format, a zipped USD (Universal Scene Description) bundle that iOS Quick Look opens directly into AR view on iPhone and iPad without a third-party app. For architectural visualization, USDZ is the fastest way to put a building in front of a client, life-sized, on the device they already carry.
In context
Sending a GLB to a non-technical client requires a viewer; sending a USDZ to an iPhone user requires nothing — they tap the file in iMessage or a web link and the scene snaps into AR. This makes USDZ the preferred format for client-facing archviz on iOS.
In Renovato
Renovato's image-to-3D mode exports USDZ alongside GLB and FBX. Materials are translated through the USD MaterialX shading network, preserving PBR fidelity. The export is one click from the 3D output node in the atlas.
